Wimbledon: Norrie wins all-British battle against Draper

Cameron Norrie reached the third round of Wimbledon by defeating No 28 seed Jack Draper 7-6 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (6) at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday evening.

“I felt I was a little bit of an underdog today, so I was pretty relaxed to be honest,” said Norrie after the match. Draper had taken the British No 1 spot off him last month.

“It was nice to use my experience against Jack,” he continued.

Norrie has now defeated Draper three times, with the younger Brit still unable to win a set off his compatriot.

Norrie, ranked No 42, will play the winner of the match between American Marcos Giron and German Alexander Zverev, the No 4 seed, next.

Cameron Norrie won against Argentinian Facundo Diaz Acosta (7-5, 7-5, 6-3) in the previous round of The Championships.

During the first round of The Championships, Draper, ranked No 28, beat Swede qualifier Elias Ymer (3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3).
