Wimbledon: Nakashima beats Thompson to reach third round

American Brandon Nakashima won against Australian Jordan Thompson 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to move into the third round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Wednesday afternoon.

Nakashima, ranked No 65, will play the winner of the match between Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp and Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 16 seed, next.

This is the second time that Nakashima is through to the third round at Wimbledon; he reached the fourth round here in 2022.

Ahead of his win today, the 22-year-old American defeated Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 18 seed (6-2, 6-3, 6-4).

Thompson, ranked No 40, produced a stunning comeback to beat Russian Pavel Kotov (5-7, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4) in the previous round of The Championships.
