Lorenzo Musetti defeats Darderi and reaches Wimbledon third round for second consecutive year

Lorenzo Musetti is becoming a reliable force on the grass.

The No 25 seed reached the third round of Wimbledon for the second straight year by rallying from two sets to one down against compatriot Luciano Darderi 6-4, 4-6, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday afternoon.

Musetti, ranked No 25, is now 9-2 on the grass in 2024 after reaching the semi-final at Stuttgart and the final at Queen’s Club. He will play Argentinian Francisco Comesana next.

Lorenzo Musetti defeated Frenchman Constant Lestienne (4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2, 6-2) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of The Championships, Darderi, ranked No 37, beat wildcard Jan Choinski (7-5, 4-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2).
