Krejcikova to meet Tomljanovic in Wimbledon third round
Barbora Krejcikova beats Viktorija Golubic in straight sets to advance to the third round at Wimbledon for the second year in a row
Former Roland-Garros champion Barbora Krejcikova, the No 13 seed, advanced to the third round of Wimbledon by beating Swiss Viktorija Golubic in straight sets at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday.
Krejcikova won 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 42 minutes to set up a third round encounter against Australian Ajla Tomljanovic.
Krejcikova, who reached the fourth round in her Wimbledon main draw debut last year after winning Roland-Garros, comes into the tournament after injury derailed her clay court season. She lost in the first round of the French Open this year and then was diagnosed with COVID-19.
In her only tune-up event on grass, the Czech woman lost her opening match in Eastbourne last week before winning up her first two rounds in straight sets.
