Madison Keys defeats Kostyuk, moves into last 16 at Wimbledon for the 5th time
Madison Keys beat Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-3 on Friday and will play Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 7 seed, in the next round
American Madison Keys, the No 12 seed, defeated Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 18 seed, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Friday.
Keys has now reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon five times, and she has achieved the feat 20 times in her Grand Slam career.
Keys, ranked No 13, will face Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 7 seed, next.
She fired 27 winners and won 16 of 22 net points against the Ukrainian, and saved the only break piont she faced.
Two-time Wimbledon quarter-finalist Keys has now notched 64 top-20 wins in her career.
The American won against Italian Martina Trevisan (6-4, 7-6 (4)) and Chinese Yafan Wang (6-2, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of The Championships, Kostyuk, ranked No 19, beat Slovak Rebecca Sramkova (6-3, 6-2) and edged out Australian Daria Saville (4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4).
