Wimbledon: Halep doesn’t lose a set to reach last 16

Romanian Simona Halep, the No 16 seed, won against Pole Magdalena Frech 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Saturday.
Halep, ranked No 18, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 4 seed, and Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 25 seed, next.
The Romanian, who won the trophy en 2019, reaches the second week of a Grand Slam for the second time in 2022 after the Australian Open, when Alize Cornet beat her. Halep defeated Czech Karolina Muchova (6-3, 6-2) and Belgian Kirsten Flipkens (7-5, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Frech, ranked No 92, won against Italian Camila Giorgi, the No 21 seed (7-6 (4), 6-1) and Slovak Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova (6-4, 6-4).
