Clutch Haddad Maia fights through another three-setter at Wimbledon

Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 13 seed, edged out Romanian Jaqueline Cristian 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 to move into the third round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday afternoon.

The Brazilian has won her last six deciders at the Grand Slams, dating back to her run to the semi-finals at Roland-Garros this spring.

Haddad Maia, ranked No 13, will face Romanian Sorana Cirstea next.

The Brazilian edged out Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (3-6, 6-0, 6-4) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of The Championships, Cristian, ranked No 133, defeated Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-3, 6-4).
