Wimbledon: Fritz advances to second round, needs five sets against Hanfmann

American Taylor Fritz, the No 9 seed, won against German Yannick Hanfmann 6-4, 2-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to reach the second round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Wednesday evening.

Hanfmann had gone into Wimbledon on a good run of form on grass, having reached the Mallorca semi-final.

Fritz, ranked No 9, will play Swede Mikael Ymer next.

Fritz – also known as the Hotshot – will take part in UTS this summer.
