Wimbledon: Dimitrov beats Tiafoe in straight sets, faces Rune in last 16

Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No. 21 seed, won against American Frances Tiafoe, the No 10 seed, 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

The match was stopped yesterday evening because of rain, with Dimitrov leading by two sets to love. The Bulgarian wasted little time in finishing off his American opponent, breezing through the third and final set to reach the second week of Wimbledon.

Dimitrov, ranked No 24, will face Dane Holger Rune, the No 6 seed, next.

The Bulgarian beat Japanese qualifier Sho Shimabukuro (6-1, 6-2, 6-1) and Belarusian Ilya Ivashka (6-3, 6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Tiafoe, ranked No 10, defeated Chinese Yibing Wu (7-6 (4), 6-3, 6-4) and Swiss qualifier Dominic Stricker (7-6 (11), 6-4, 6-2).
