Wimbledon: Halle champion Bublik impressive in win over Marterer, into last 16 of a Slam for the first time
Alexander Bublik defeated Maximilian Marterer 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (4) on Friday and will play the winner of the match between Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 7 seed, and Belgian wildcard David Goffin in the next round
Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 23 seed, advanced to the last 16 of Wimbledon by defeating German Maximilian Marterer 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (4) at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.
Bublik, ranked No 26, will face Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 7 seed, next. This is the first time that the Kazakh is through to the fourth round at a Grand Slam event in his career.

The Kazakh edged out American Mackenzie McDonald (6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4) and won against J.J. Wolf (6-3, 7-6 (5), 6-0) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of The Championships, Marterer, ranked No 170, edged out Croat Borna Gojo (7-5, 6-7 (8), 6-3, 6-4) and beat American lucky loser Michael Mmoh (7-5, 7-6 (5), 6-4).
