Wimbledon: One Pole down, one more to go!! Bencic beats Linette, faces Swiatek in last 16

Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 14 seed, beat Pole Magda Linette, the No 23 seed, 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Friday evening.

Bencic, ranked No 14, will face another Pole, Iga Swiatek, the world No 1, in the fourth round.

Swiatek holds a 2-1 edge in their head-to-head but Bencic won their only meeting in a Grand Slam, which came in the fourth round of the 2021 US Open.

Ahead of her victory, the Swiss won against wildcard Katie Swan (7-5, 6-2) and edged out American Danielle Collins (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2)).
