Wimbledon: 16-year-old Andreeva reaches third round after Krejcikova retirement
Mirra Andreeva benefited from the abandonment of Barbora Krejcikova (6-3, 4-0) on Thursday afternoon and will play the winner of the match between Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 22 seed, and Slovenian qualifier Kaja Juvan in the next round
Russian qualifier Mirra Andreeva moved into the third round of Wimbledon when No 10 seed Barbora Krejcikova retired at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday.
Andreeva, ranked No 102, led 6-3, 4-0 when Krejcikova, ranked No 11, pulled out at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday afternoon.
The 16-year-old Russian will play the winner of the match between Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 22 seed, and Slovenian qualifier Kaja Juvan next.
In the previous round of The Championships, Mirra Andreeva edged out Chinese Xiyu Wang (6-4, 3-6, 7-5).
Barbora Krejcikova defeated wildcard Heather Watson (6-2, 7-5) in the first round of The Championships.
