Tomova sets up second round clash with Sakkari at Wimbledon
Viktoriya Tomova edged out Daria Saville 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 to win a Grand Slam main draw match for just the second time in her career
Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova moved into the second round of Wimbledon by edging out Australian wildcard Daria Saville 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Tuesday.
Viktoriya Tomova, ranked No 112, will play fifth seed Greek Maria Sakkari next. Sakkari defeated qualifier Zoe Hives 6-1, 6-4 in another first round match on Tuesday.
The only previous time Tomova had reached the second round at a Major also came at Wimbledon, when she reached the round of 64 in 2018.
