Pliskova sets up rematch with Boulter in Wimbledon second round
Pliskova will be looking for revenge after Boulter defeated her in Eastbourne last week
Last year’s finalist Karolina Pliskova advanced to the second round of the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club in London.
The sixth seeded Czechwoman defeated countrywoman Tereza Martincova 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 in a first round match held over from Tuesday. The match was suspended on Day 2 with the score tied at 5-5 in the second set.
Pliskova will next meet British wild card Katie Boulter, who defeated Frenchwoman Clara Burel 7-5, 6-3. Boulter defeated the Czech in three sets in the first round of Eastbourne last week. The career head-to-head between the two players is tied at 1-1.
Since returning to the tour in Indian Wells, the former world No 1 has posted a mediocre 8-10 record on the tour, including a 2-2 record on grass prior to this week.
