Mirra Andreeva confirms spot in Wimbledon main draw
The teenage star looks set to impress at another Grand Slam
Mirra Andreeva beat Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 in the final round of qualifying to confirm her spot in the main draw of Wimbledon.
It was the first set that she had dropped all week – but in her first tournament on grass, now she’s found her feet, the 16-year-old has confirmed she’s just as at home there as on the Roland-Garros clay, where she impressed last month.
“I’m very happy with this on my first tournament on grass,” she said to the Wimbledon website. “In the beginning I didn’t feel that comfortable on the surface but now, step by step, I’m getting more and more confident here. I’m still falling though. I think I’m the person who falls more than anybody else.
We will see you next week, Mirra Andreeva 🙌

“I didn’t feel confident at all when I came here. I tried to do my thing. I was thinking, you have you no expectations, you just play, it’s your first tournament on grass. It’s already perfect that you managed to get here.
“I just tried to play my game and fight for every ball and now I’m in the main draw. I’ve never been to Wimbledon before. I’m super excited.”
Andreeva made it through qualifying in Paris, beating Alison Riske-Amritraj and then Diane Parry before falling to sixth seed Coco Gauff 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-1 in the third round.
