“I’ve dreamed about a Wimbledon title since I was little” – Aryna Sabalenka into semi-finals
Aryna Sabalenka is through to a second Wimbledon semi-final after defeating Madison Keys
Aryna Sabalenka continued her quest for a maiden Wimbledon title and the world No 1 spot with a 6-2, 6-4 demolition of Madison Keys.
The American had looked set to force a decider before Sabalenka won four games on the spin to take the match in straight sets.
Sabalenka now has 40 match wins this year, second on tour only behind Iga Swiatek – and she will overtake the Pole as world No 1 if she reaches the final.
It also makes her the only woman to reach the semi-finals of all three Slams thus far this year.
Welcome back to the semi-finals, @SabalenkaA 👏

“It’s really amazing to be back in the semi-finals…hopefully I can do better than I did last time!” she laughed afterwards, referring to her 2021 semi-final against Karolina Pliskova, which she lost 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
“Since I was little I was dreaming about a Wimbledon title. It’s something special. Wimbledon is just different.”
Keys had gone into the match undefeated on grass this year, having won her second Eastbourne title the week before heading to SW19.
