Former semi-finalist Flipkens reaches Wimbledon second round in swansong
Kirsten Flipkens won against Jaimee Fourlis 7-5, 6-2 and will play former champion Simona Halep in the second round of Wimbledon
Belgian Kirsten Flipkens won against Australian qualifier Jaimee Fourlis 7-5, 6-2 to reach the second round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Tuesday afternoon.
Flipkens, ranked No 190, will face 16th seed Simona Halep, who scored a straight sets win over Czech Karolina Muchova.
Flipkens, a semi-finalist at Wimbledon in 2013, is playing the final tournament of her career as the 36-year-old will retire at the end of this event.
