UTS Seoul cancelled, field now set for UTS Grand Final in London
Following the postponement of UTS Seoul, the field is now set for the final event of the year in London
UTS has announced today that its planned event in Seoul will be postponed due to the strikes in Australian ports.
The event, scheduled for December 1st to 3rd, was going to determine which three players joined Andrey “Rublo” Rublev, Gael “La Monf” Monfils, Casper “The Iceman” Ruud, Holger “The Viking” Rune, and Jack “The Power” Draper at the UTS Grand Final in London later in December.
However, with the postponement of UTS Seoul, the final three qualification spots have been confirmed.
Schwartzman, Paire and Bublik qualify for UTS London
Joining the five already qualified players will be Diego “El Peque” Schwartzman, Benoit “The Rebel” Paire and Alexander “The Bublik Enemy” Bublik.
Schwartzman, Paire and Bublik have featured at both of the UTS events in 2023 in Los Angeles and Frankfurt, and have become crowd favourites. El Peque and The Rebel gain their spots at the UTS Grand Final courtesy of their rank in the UTS Race, while The Bublik Enemy is awarded a wild card spot in lieu of a UTS Seoul winner.
The UTS event in London will take place from December 15th to 17th at the ExCel London, with the winner being crowned UTS Champion for 2023. One player–“The Power”–will be making his debut, while the other seven are all returning UTS players.
Earlier today, UTS explained the decision around postponing UTS Seoul, writing on their website:
“We very much hoped the ongoing strikes at Australian ports would have improved by the end of November, which has put the delivery of key equipment and technology coming into Korea at risk. We are determined to bring the best experience to our fans which is why we had to take the difficult decision to postpone UTS Korea.
We would like to send our sincere apologies to all the ticket holders, who will be fully reimbursed within seven days. We are grateful for the interest in UTS, and are already working on plans to bring UTS to Seoul in 2024.”
