UTS Grand Final: Rune beats Bublik in sudden death
The Dane had lost his first match this week to Britain’s Jack Draper
Holger ‘Viking’ Rune overcame Alexander ‘The Enemy’ Bublik in sudden death at the UTS Grand Final in London on Saturday to score his first win in the competition.
With both players losing their first match on Friday, the contest was an important one for both. Rune started off by winning the first quarter 15-11 before Bublik took the next two quarters 18-12 and 19-12.
Rune fought back to take the fourth quarter, but only just as he won the deciding point 15-14 and then clinched the sudden death 2-1 to complete the victory.
Rune will be back in the evening session when he takes on Gael ‘Le Monf’ Monfils while Bublik will meet Jack Draper later on Saturday.
With Draper and Mondils both winning their first matches on Friday, there is still plenty to play for in Group B.
