Tsitsipas completes field at UTS New York, draw revealed
Three of the world’s top 10 will be in action at the iconic Forest Hills, on the eve of the US Open
The inaugural UTS New York event has finalised its field, with Stefanos “El Greco” Tsitsipas confirmed as the eighth player.
And on court it’s set to begin with fireworks after Nick Kyrgios was drawn to face Casper Ruud in the quarter-finals.
Held at the iconic Forest Hills on the eve of the US Open, from August 22-23, UTS New York features three of the world’s top 10 and some of the most exciting players on Tour.
Kyrgios might be making his first appearance since summer 2023 after struggling with injuries. “King Kyrgios” and “The Ice Man” will contest one of four quarter-finals on Thursday 22 August as UTS switches from its usual round-robin format to a knockout for the first time. The semi-finals, finals and classification matches will be held on Friday August 23.
UTS Oslo champion Andrey Rublev, “Rublo”, faces Gael “La Monf” Monfils, Tsitsipas takes on Alexander “The Bublik Enemy” Bublik, while top seed Alex de Minaur, “The Demon”, is due to play Denis “Shapo” Shapovalov.
New York is the second event in the 2024 UTS calendar, following on from Oslo in February, with Frankfurt to come in October. The winners of each event qualify directly for the season-ending UTS Grand Final in London in December. Rublev heads the 2024 UTS race rankings after winning in Oslo. The Russian is automatically qualified for London.
Forest Hills is one of the most iconic venues in tennis history, having staged the US Open for more than 60 years until its move to Flushing Meadows in 1978.
