Kyrgios completes UTS Frankfurt lineup in October
The Australian will compete against the likes of Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe at the event
The lineup for October’s UTS Frankfurt event is complete, with Australian Nick Kyrgios being announced as the eighth man starring in the format’s third tournament of 2024.
The 29-year-old will be making his return to tennis in August at UTS New York, giving fans two opportunities to see him in the unique format this year. Tickets for the German event are already available.
Kyrgios will be playing alongside a range of other top players in Frankfurt, including:
- Ben Shelton – “The Mountain”
- Frances Tiafoe – “Big Foe”
- Gael Monfils – “La Monf”
- Dominic Thiem – “Dominator”
- Lorenzo Musetti – “The Illusionist”
- Alex de Minaur – “The Demon”
- Jan-Lennard Struff – “The Thunder”
Kyrgios has played just one Tour-level match in the past 22 months, with the former world No 13 struggling with several injury issues after a breakout season in 2022.
However, he has spoken several times about his desire to return to the game.
“I’ll be back on court soon and I’ll give you a little bit more to cheer about, that’s for sure,” the former Wimbledon finalist said earlier this year.
“I know there’s still fire in the belly, which is good.”
The UTS format is intended to be more engaging and interactive for fans, showing the authentic, unfiltered side of players.
With Kyrgios being one of tennis’ most polarising figures that’s never short of drama on the court, the Aussie and UTS is a match made in heaven.
Andrey Rublev is the defending champion at UTS Frankfurt.
