Fritz, Rune to begin European clay-court season at UTS Nîmes
UTS Nîmes will be the second stop on the UTS Tour in 2025
American Taylor Fritz and Denmark’s Holger Rune will begin their 2025 European clay-court seasons by playing in the Bastide Médical UTS Nîmes event in April, the second stop on next year’s UTS Tour.
Fritz – The Hotshot – and Rune – The Viking – join Andrey Rublev (Rublo), Casper Ruud (The Ice Man) and Gael Monfils (La Monf) in the eight-man field. The remaining three places will be named shortly.
The addition of world No 4 Fritz, who made his first slam final at the US Open and was runner-up at the ATP Finals, and of Rune, mean that UTS Nîmes boasts four of the world’s top 10 and five of the top 15.
Fritz reached the final on both his two previous UTS appearances, in UTS4 in 2021 and in UTS Los Angeles in 2023. Rune was the youngest man, at 17, to play in the inaugural UTS event in 2020. He was runner-up at the Grand Final in 2023.
More tickets available on November 20
The event will be played over two days, April 4 and 5, at the Arènes de Nîmes. Due to increased demand, 500 more tickets are now available on UTS.live.
“As I said when we announced the event at Nîmes town hall last September, the line-up that a UTS tournament is capable of offering the public is incredibly prestigious,” Patrick Mouratoglou, the coach and entrepreneur who founded the UTS circuit, said.
“We select players on the basis of their level of play and their ability to put on a show, both through their tennis and their involvement with the public. The presence of Fritz and Rune shows that our project is generating considerable interest in the world of tennis.”
