US Open: Zhang moves into third round
Shuai Zhang won against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 7-5, 6-1 on Wednesday and will play the winner of the match between Ukrainian qualifier Daria Snigur and Canadian Rebecca Marino in the next round

Chinese Shuai Zhang won against Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 7-5, 6-1 to move into the third round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Wednesday.
Zhang, ranked No 36, will face Canadian Rebecca Marino next.
The 33-year-old Chinese beat Swiss Jil Teichmann, the No 30 seed (6-4, 6-2) in the previous round of the Flushing Meadows.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 115, defeated Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-3, 6-2).

- Ons Jabeur (5) beat Elizabeth Mandlik (WC): 7-5, 6-2
- Xiyu Wang beat Maria Sakkari (3): 3-6, 7-5, 7-5
