US Open: Wu impresses in five against Lajovic

Yibing Wu won against Serb Dusan Lajovic 3-6, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 to move into the second round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Tuesday night.

It was a back and forth affair, with Wu being forced to come back from 1-2 sets down in order to win the match. The Chinese player did so behind a strong first serve percentage, as well as some well-timed winner, making 49 overall across the match.

For a player that has twice looked unsteady on his legs on court in recent months, Yibing “The Great Wall” Wu did well to last physically across the two hour, 58 minute match.

Wu, ranked No 86, will face Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 13 seed, next.
