US Open: Wang stuns Azarenka to reach last 16

Chinese Wang Yafan reached the last 16 of the US Open by beating Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 20 seed, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Wang, ranked No 80, will play Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 26 seed, next.
The Chinese benefited from the abandonment of Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 9 seed (6-2) and won against Frenchwoman Diane Parry (6-0, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Azarenka, ranked No 20, won against Ukrainian qualifier Yulia Starodubtseva (3-6, 6-1, 6-1) and Frenchwoman Clara Burel (6-1, 6-4).
