US Open: Tiafoe recovers to edge out Mannarino and move into the last 16
Tiafoe edged out Mannarino 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-6 (6). He’ll play Rinky Hijikata in the next round

American Frances Tiafoe, the No 10 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the US Open by edging out Frenchman Adrian Mannarino, the No 22 seed, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-6 (6) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Tiafoe, ranked No 10, will play Australian wildcard Rinky Hijikata next.
The American won against wildcard Learner Tien (6-2, 7-5, 6-1) and Austrian Sebastian Ofner (6-3, 6-1, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Mannarino, ranked No 35, edged out Japanese Yosuke Watanuki (7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 7-5) and defeated Hungarian Fabian Marozsan (3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1).
