US Open: Swiatek moves into second round with “better rhythm than in Toronto and Cincinnati”

Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, defeated Italian Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the second round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Tuesday.

“For sure I’m pretty happy with the performance, and I feel like I have better rhythm than in Toronto and Cincinnati so that’s great” said the number one in the WTA rankings. “I’m trying to enjoy that.”

“For sure in first set at the beginning, I played pretty solid game, but I needed to take it up to another level. I did that at the end and in second set, so I’m pretty proud of that.”

World No 1 Swiatek will play the winner of the match between Belgian Greet Minnen and American Sloane Stephens next.
