Alert: Sinner beats Medvedev in four sets to reach US Open semi-finals
Jannik Sinner got past Daniil Medvedev in four sets at the US Open on Wednesday. Next up for the top seed is Jack Draper.
Jannik Sinner advanced to the semi-finals of the US Open by defeating Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 5 seed, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Wednesday night.
Sinner, ranked No 1, will face No 25 seed Jack Draper on Friday.
The Italian previously beat American Mackenzie McDonald (2-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2), American Alex Michelsen (6-4, 6-0, 6-2), Australian Christopher O’Connell (6-1, 6-4, 6-2) and American Tommy Paul, the No 14 seed (7-6 (3), 7-6 (5), 6-1).
Medvedev, ranked No 5, advanced to the quarters with wins over Dusan Lajovic (6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1), Hungarian Fabian Marozsan (6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (5)), Italian Flavio Cobolli, the No 31 seed (6-3, 6-4, 6-3) and Portuguese Nuno Borges (6-0, 6-1, 6-3).
