US Open: Schmiedlova edges out Baindl to move through to second round

Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova advanced to the second round of the US Open by winning against Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 64, will play Spaniard Rebeka Masarova next.
