Alert: Sabalenka beats Navarro in US Open semis
Aryna Sabalenka battled past Emma Navarro in straight sets on Thursday. Sabalenka is through to a second consecutive US Open final.
Aryna Sabalenka defeated American Emma Navarro 6-3, 7-6 (2) to reach the final of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Thursday night.
Sabalenka, ranked No 2, will play the winner of the match between American Jessica Pegula, the No 6 seed, and Karolina Muchova.
The Belarusian previously beat Australian qualifier Priscilla Hon (6-3, 6-3), Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-3, 6-1), Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 29 seed (2-6, 6-1, 6-2), Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 33 seed (6-2, 6-4) and Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 7 seed (6-1, 6-2).
Navarro, ranked No 12, made her best-ever Grand Slam run at the expense of Russian Anna Blinkova (6-1, 6-1), Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus (6-1, 6-1), Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 19 seed (6-4, 4-6, 6-3), No 3 seed Coco Gauff (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) and Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 26 seed (6-2, 7-5).
