US Open: Ruud makes second round, van Rijthoven next

Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 5 seed, defeated Kyle Edmund 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Monday.

Ruud, ranked No 7, will face Dutchman Tim van Rijthoven next.
