US Open: Paul sets up third round clash with fifth seed Ruud
Tommy Paul beat Sebastian Korda 6-0, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to score his second consecutive five-set win at the US Open
American Tommy Paul, the No 29 seed, advanced to the third round of the US Open by beating Sebastian Korda 6-0, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Wednesday.
Paul, ranked No 34, will play Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 5 seed, in the round of 32.
This was the second consecutive five-set win for Tommy Paul, who defeated Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles (4-6, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0, 7-5) in the first round.
Korda, ranked No 52, had won against Argentinian qualifier Facundo Bagnis (5-7, 7-6 (3), 7-5, 6-1) in the first round at Flushing Meadows.
