US Open: Wawrinka retires, Moutet reaches second round
Corentin Moutet benefited from the abandonment of Stan Wawrinka (6-4, 7-6 (7)) on Monday. He’ll play the winner of the match between Czech qualifier Tomas Machac and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 21 seed, in the next round

French lucky loser Corentin Moutet reached the second round of the US Open when Swiss Stan Wawrinka retired at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Monday.
Moutet, ranked No 112, led 6-4, 7-6 (7) when Wawrinka, ranked No 295, pulled out on Monday evening at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.
The Frenchman will play the winner of the match between Czech qualifier Tomas Machac and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 21 seed, next.
