17-year-old qualifier Mensik stuns Barrere to become youngest to win US Open match since 2014

Qualifier Jakub Mensik advanced to the second round of the US Open by winning against Frenchman Gregoire Barrere 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (1), 6-2 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Monday afternoon.

In doing so, the 17-year-old gained his first ever win on the ATP Tour, becoming the youngest ATP player to win a match at the US Open since Coric in 2014.

Mensik, ranked No 206, will face the winner of the match between Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 18 seed, and French qualifier Titouan Droguet next.
