Croat Petra Martic moved into the second round of the US Open by beating Russian Varvara Gracheva 6-4, 7-6 (3) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Tuesday.
Martic, ranked No 54, will play Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 4 seed, next.
