US Open: Mannarino hits incredible tweener on his way to the third round

Adrian Mannarino, the No 22 seed, advanced to the third round of the US Open by winning against Hungarian Fabian Marozsan 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

The win sees the 35-year-old continue his strong form in 2023, with the Frenchman sitting at 24-15 for the year with one title in Newport, and coming into this tournament off the back of a quarter-finals run in Cincinnati.

Mannarino hit one of the best shots of the tournament do far – an incredible tweener on the run – in the fourth set.

Mannarino, ranked No 35, will face the winner of the match between Austrian Sebastian Ofner and American Frances Tiafoe, the No 10 seed, next. In the previous round of the US Open, he edged Japanese Yosuke Watanuki (7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 7-5).

Marozsan, ranked No 92, defeated Frenchman Richard Gasquet (6-3, 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (1), 6-2) during the first round of the Flushing Meadows tournament.
