US Open: Mandlik through to second round

American wildcard Elizabeth Mandlik edged out Slovenian Tamara Zidansek 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-4 to move into the second round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Monday.

Mandlik, ranked No 144, known as former champion Hana Mandlikova’s daughter, will face the winner of the match between Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 5 seed, and American Madison Brengle next.
