US Open: Kyrgios wins to sets up fourth round clash with world No 1 Medvedev
Nick Kyrgios beat J.J. Wolf 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 on Friday and will face defending champion Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round
Australian Nick Kyrgios, the No 23 seed, defeated beat American wildcard J.J. Wolf in straight sets to reach the fourth round of the US Open in New York City on Friday night.
Kyrgios, who reached the final of Wimbledon in July, won 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the fourth round at Flushing Meadows for the first time in his career.
The Australian will play world No 1 Daniil Medvedev, of Russia, who beat Chinese qualifier Yibing Wu 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 in the last match on Arthur Ashe Stadium
Kyrgios also through to second round of doubles
In his previous matches, Kyrgios defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis (6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (4)) in the first round and Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi (7-6 (3), 6-4, 4-6, 6-4) in the second round.
Kyrgios is also playing the men’s doubles draw this fortnight with Kokkinakis and the duo are through to the second round.
