US Open: Kanepi defeats Strycova in straight sets for spot in second round
Kaia Kanepi defeated Barbora Strycova 6-4, 6-4 and will face the winner of the match between Qinwen Zheng, the No 23 seed, and Nadia Podoroska in the next round
Estonian Kaia Kanepi defeated Barbora Strycova 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the second round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Tuesday night.
Kanepi, ranked No 133, will play the winner of the match between China’s Qinwen Zheng, the No 23 seed, and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska next.
