Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina beat American Bernarda Pera 6-4, 6-4 to reach the second round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Tuesday.
Kalinina, ranked No 47, will face Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 21 seed, next.
