US Open: Haddad Maia advances to last 16
Beatriz Haddad Maia won against Anna Kalinskaya 6-3, 6-1 to join Caroline Wozniacki in the fourt round
Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 22 seed, reached the last 16 of the US Open by defeating Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 15 seed, 6-3, 6-1 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Sunday night.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 21, will play Dane Caroline Wozniacki next.
The Brazilian won against Armenian Elina Avanesyan (4-6, 6-0, 6-2) and Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-2, 6-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds, Kalinskaya, ranked No 15, beat American Lauren Davis (6-2, 6-2) and Hungarian Anna Bondar (6-2, 6-4).
