US Open: Evans sets up De Minaur meeting in third round

Dan Evans from England moved into the third round of the US Open by beating Argentinian Mariano Navone 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Thursday.

Evans, ranked No 184, will face Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 10 seed, next. De Minaur defeated Finnish qualifier Otto Virtanen (7-5, 6-1, 7-6 (3)) and Marcos Giron from the US (6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4) in the previous rounds.

Dan Evans won a tough battle against Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 23 seed (6-7 (6), 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
