US Open: Cornet follows-up win over Raducanu and moves into third round

Frenchwoman Alize Cornet advanced to the third round of the US Open by winning against Czech Katerina Siniakova 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Thursday.

Cornet, ranked No 40, will play the winner of the match between Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa and American Danielle Collins, the No 19 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Flushing Meadows, the Frenchwoman defeated No 11 seed Emma Raducanu (6-3, 6-3), the 2021 champion.

Siniakova, ranked No 83, won against American Taylor Townsend (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) in the first round of the Flushing Meadows.
