US Open: Cachin reaches third round, ends Holt fairytale
Pedro Cachin overhauled Brandon Holt 1-6, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (6) on Wednesday and will play French lucky loser Corentin Moutet in the next round
Argentinian Pedro Cachin moved into the third round of the US Open by overhauling American qualifier Brandon Holt 1-6, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (6) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Wednesday.
Cachin, ranked No 66, will face French lucky loser Corentin Moutet next.
The Argentinian beat Slovenian Aljaz Bedene (6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 1-6, 7-6 (6)) ahead of his victory – in another 10-point match tiebreak.
In the previous round of Flushing Meadows, Holt, ranked No 303, edged out No 10 seed Taylor Fritz (6-7 (3), 7-6 (1), 6-3, 6-4).
He is the son of former Grand Slam champion Tracy Austin, and made it through qualifying to compete in New York.
