American Jenson Brooksby advanced to the second round of the US Open when Serb Dusan Lajovic retired on Tuesday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.
Brooksby, ranked No 43, led 6-2, 6-0, 3-0 when Lajovic, ranked No 88, pulled out at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.
The 21-year-old American will face the winner of the match between Croat Borna Coric, the No 25 seed, and French qualifier Enzo Couacaud next.
