Nadal withdraws from US Open, next event will be Laver Cup
The four-time US Open champion will be absent for this year’s edition, due to not being able to be “100 percent” for the event
Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the 2024 US Open and stated that he would not be able to give 100 percent if he were to play the event. After the Paris Olympic Games, the Spaniard stated that it would be “difficult” for him to imagine being in New York, so the decision does not arrive as too much of a surprise for tennis fans.
The four-time champion left Paris without a medal, losing out to eventual gold medalist Novak Djokovic in the second round of the singles, and falling to Ram and Krajicek in the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles category, where he played alongside Carlos Alcaraz.
However, Nadal did confirm that his next event would be the Laver Cup, which will take place from September 20th-22nd.
