Roland-Garros: Zhang makes third round
Zhizhen Zhang edged out Lorenzo Sonego 7-5, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 on Thursday afternoon. He’ll play Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 9 seed, in the next round
Chinese Zhizhen Zhang moved into the third round of Roland-Garros by edging out Italian Lorenzo Sonego 7-5, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in Paris.
Zhang, ranked No 44, will face Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 9 seed, next.
The Chinese edged out Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Roland-Garros 2024, Sonego, ranked No 49, won against Frenchman Ugo Humbert, the No 17 seed (6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3).
