More than a decade after she made the final here in Paris, Italian Sara Errani has qualified for the main draw of Roland-Garros. This marks the former world No 5’s 14th Roland-Garros appearance, and 48th at Grand Slams overall.

Errani had to do it tough on Friday, defeating Elina-Gabriela Ruse in two tiebreaker sets to claim her spot in the main draw. She’ll face Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, No 53, in the first round of Roland-Garros.

Also qualifying on Friday were American Katie Volynets and Slovakian Rebecca Sramkova. Volynets moved past Oksana Selekhmetva in straight sets to book a first-round clash against Aleksandra Krunic, while Sramkova had a tougher path. She went the distance against Panna Udvardy, winning in a third set tiebreak. Sramkova will now face Amanda Anisimova in round one.
