Dane Clara Tauson moved into the last 16 of Roland-Garros by winning against American Sofia Kenin 6-2, 7-5 at Roland-Garros in Paris on Friday afternoon.
Tauson, ranked No 72, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 31 seed, and Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 8 seed, next.
In the previous rounds, the 21-year-old Dane beat German Tatjana Maria (6-2, 6-3) and Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 9 seed (7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3).
Kenin, ranked No 56, defeated German Laura Siegemund (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 21 seed (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
