Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo reached the last 16 of Roland-Garros after Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 4 seed, withdrew before the match at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Saturday.

Sorribes Tormo, ranked No 132, will play the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 23 seed, and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 14 seed, next.

In the previous rounds of the French Open, the Spaniard won against French wildcard Clara Burel (7-6, 6-2) and Croat Petra Martic (6-4, 6-1).

Rybakina, ranked No 4, defeated Czech qualifier Brenda Fruhvirtova (6-4, 6-2) and Czech Linda Noskova (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
